"Lacework" explores themes of gender, ethnicity, and queerness. By commanding space through exaggerated scale and subversive material, the work reimagines the traditional lace doily, transforming symbols of domesticity and gender roles into declarations of power. Where lace typically connotes domesticity, this industrial interpretation stands firmly on its own. By scaling up the traditional doily to architectural proportions, it challenges notions of what belongs in a space and who gets to occupy it.
