baobae is an investigation in how material and manufacturing can affect the circularity and sustainability of a product. The brief was to design a side table three ways, to accommodate varying volumes and consideration of how it will be made and shipped.
The one off is uses metal rods and weaving techniques to create the hollow shape of the side table. The batch made uses panel beating, which uses a positive wooden mold and hammering of a piece of sheet metal to create the forms. They are then welded together and polished. The mass manufactured uses PU foam, and is able to be shipped in a packaging 1/10th the size of its full form.
